It is our pleasure to present the V permanent Workshop of the Hispanic-American Input-Output Society (SHAIO) which will be held on the 29th and 30th of September of 2016 in Bilbao.
The input-output analysis has a long history connected with concerns of classical economics and it has served, among other things, to entwine and test advanced theories and economic models, trade models, national and international accounting, and physical and economic models. Its central point is the analysis of the interrelationships between different economic sectors, the generation of incomes, and the relationship between the final demands, value added, transactions of intermediate goods, and associated embedded, induced effects, etc. In recent years the input-output perspective has undergone developments largely linked to growing computing capabilities and collection of international databases for the applied analysis; to the concerns about the effects of international trade, to the necessary analysis of the interrelationships between economy and nature, and between the economy and social phenomena.
In this edition of the Workshop we emphasize the active participation in the organization of the several institutions and groups, since the SHAIO has always had a desire to foster the fruitful dialogue and exchange of experiences between academic researchers, the statistical institutes, the policymakers and practitioners.
The official languages of the conference are Spanish and English; abstracts and papers can be submitted in any of these two languages.
On the 29th and 30th of September there will be the thematic sessions in which the accepted papers will be presented, and where we hope we all have a great atmosphere of confidence to present and help in works in progress or already completed.
Hence, we invite you to participate in the V permanent Workshop of the SHAIO on Input-Output Analysis.
Looking forward to seeing you in Bilbao1
